Jenny and Jay’s wedding is a great example to show us working in London as their photoshoot provided a raw and natural look at the urban scenery of London’s downtown! With this couple we simply wandered around London and captured footage where ever we felt inspired. My favourite little hidden gem we stumbled upon was the beautiful vine wall, which you can see in the thumbnail! That was just tucked away in the back of a parking lot! Urban mixed with nature is a great aesthetic. You can actually find lots of greenery mixed into the city in London!
Another beautiful and massive feature of London’s downtown is St. Peter’s Basilica. We have been fortunate enough to film in this massive Europeanesque Cathedral! The enormous vaulted ceilings have an amazing cinematic quality to them that adds a grandeur to the film and we decided to use it as the opening sequence in the Jenny and Jay film!
We always have a great time filming in London, Ontario and if you are looking into videography for that region we hope you will contact us!
Reception Venues in London, Ontario
Imperio Banquet Hall is located at 109 Falcon St, London, ON N5W 4Z2. Take a look at their website: https://imperiobanquethall.com/
Imperio is a nice banquet hall located in a fairly industrial area of London. It isn’t ideal for the photoshoot location but serves as a nice hall for the reception. The hall is satisfactory with no grand features besides a nice water fountain in the lobby. They drape fabric from the ceiling and have many chandeliers for light with one main fixture in the centre of the dance floor. The dance floor is very large and facilitates a high number of guests. The space dedicated to tables is not very large and at the wedding we filmed tables were packed in very tight and didn’t leave much room to move around. Some tables were also awkwardly on the dance floor and out of the organized table arrangement. Another down side to the hall is it is fairly under-lit, the chandeliers are aesthetically appealing but provide limited actual useful light. At the wedding we filmed the in-house DJ had multiple issues with arranging the speakers and created feedback during the speeches.
Overall the venue was nice and the staff were pleasant. We captured a lot of nice footage at the venue and we were very pleased with the final film. I am not sure of the pricing but I do believe it is more that likely are fairly moderately priced venue and within that category it was as one would expect.
Elsie Perrin Williams Estate is located at 101 Windermere Rd, London, ON N6G 2J4. You can check out their website here: http://heritagelondonfoundation.ca/elsie-perrin-williams-estate/
This is a gorgeous estate venue in London! There is not real need for an alternative photoshoot location! There are lots of locations around the estate property for a variety of different set-ups and backgrounds. We were able to film in half a dozen different spots which adds a nice amount of variety to the film. There was green, nature spots and areas around the exterior of the building. And we didn’t even take advantage of any of the interior options!
The ceremony location that the couple used was under the gazebo. This was nice, sometimes all the columns can reduce our visibility for filming but I suppose due to how large the gazebo was we didn’t really have much of an issue.
The only negatives was the reception location was very tiny and is only suitable for intimate receptions. This seems to be common with Estate venues. They did offer an outdoor patio that was nice for cocktail hour and to spread out of the tight dinning area. This is a perfect venue for reducing locations, I’m not sure but you can probably rent rooms in the upstairs for getting ready as well, which would mean you’d have your getting ready, ceremony, photoshoot and reception all in the same location! And as a videographer I find this to be the ideal situation!
