A letter to Sarah and Matt…

Matthew is the most intelligent, kind, sweet, funny human I have ever met in my life, and I'm the luckiest person in the world to call him my husband.

It's been an incredible journey watching you blossom into the amazing woman you are today, Sarah. From the time when she would sneak into my room to borrow my clothes to this moment, sitting right here radiant in your wedding gown, I am beyond proud to call you my sister. Your strength, your kindness, and your beautiful heart inspire me every single day. When I look at her today, I see a woman who has grown into someone I deeply, deeply admire.

Matthew’s life basically revolves around games. When we were young, we would play card games or sports drinking games. It was really when Sarah and Yasmine would spend their Christmases at our house that I really learned something about her. Sarah is passionately competitive, but that's when I finally knew I could give Matthew over to someone who would play games with him when I'm not around. Matthew, today you've made me doubly happy because today I get to witness the wedding of not only my brother but of my best friend as well.

My blessed son Matthew, supported by the grace of the Holy Spirit, you are required to receive your wife Sarah at this blessed hour with your conscious pure soul and a full heart. Excel in doing all that is good for her, have compassion on her, and hasten to do that which gladdens her heart.

And you, blessed daughter Sarah and happy bride, you have heard what was commanded of your husband. For today you are alone with him and he is responsible for you instead of your parents, so you must receive him with joy and cheer and fear God in all matters with him.

You have been both crowned with the Heavenly crowning and the spiritual marriage. The grace of God has set upon you when you accept what has been commanded of you. The Lord will take your hand, increase your livelihood, grant you blessed children by whom God will delight your eyes. Grant you a long age, prosper your outcome in this life and hereafter. May the Lord bless you, my son Matthew, and bless your wife Sarah. May the blessing of the Lord to his name settle upon you. We ask Him to accept from us the prayers of this blessed crowning.

Sarah, you've changed my life in so many wonderful ways. I know that it's only going to get better from here. No one can make me smile the way that you do, and I honestly feel like the happiest man on the planet. I love you more than words can express, and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you.
